Worker Roles
OFFLINE
This process should work offline
Context & Background
To improve visibility and streamline processes, Site Protectors need to assign a specific role to each worker for their shift when they sign on to a worksite. This allows the Site Protector to have a clear, real-time understanding of who is performing critical functions on-site (e.g., Competent, Mobile Plant Controller, First Aid). This role can be updated if the worker's responsibilities change during the shift.
User Story
As a Site Protector
I want to assign a specific role to each worker upon sign-on and be able to update it
So that I have clear visibility of the capabilities and responsibilities of everyone on my worksite.
Business Rules
- A worker must be assigned a role when they are signed on to a worksite.
- The assigned role must be one of the pre-defined, valid Rail Competency roles.
- Only an authorised user (e.g., Site Protector) can update a worker's role after they have been signed on.
- All role assignments and updates must be logged for auditing purposes.
- The list of valid roles includes:
- C: Competent and Current
- DS: Under Direct Supervision
- WS: Works Supervisor
- FA: First Aid Qualified
- V: Vehicle
- MP: Mobile Plant
- HRV: Hi-Rail Vehicle
- MPC: Mobile Plant Controller
- ESO: Electrical Safety Observer
- RSO: Rail Safety Observer
- GMO: Gas Monitor Observer
- STMS: Site Traffic Management Supervisor
Acceptance Criteria
Event-Driven Requirements
- When a worker is being signed on, the system SHALL prompt the Site Protector to select a role for that worker.
- When a worker's role is selected or updated, the system SHALL log the change for auditing purposes.
State-Driven Requirements
- While a worker is signed on to a worksite, the system SHALL allow a Site Protector to update their role.
Ubiquitous Requirements
- The system SHALL only allow a worker's role to be selected from the approved list of Rail Competency Acronyms.
- The system SHALL display the worker's current role in the "Viewing Workers on Site" interface.
Optional Requirements
- The system MAY allow for an admin to manage the list of roles.
Dependencies
Requires: REQ-WORK-001: Worker Sign-on and Lock-on
Enables: REQ-WORK-003: Viewing Workers on Site
Notes
There will be future consideration towards the maintainability of the list of roles. If administration controls for the list of approved roles is trivial within initial development, then this should be considered.
