Manually Lock a Worker Off
OFFLINE
This process should work offline
Context & Background
Manual worker lock-off provides an alternative method for Site Protectors to remove workers from active protection when QR code-based lock-off is not available. This addresses scenarios where workers' QR codes are not working, lost, or damaged, ensuring that the worksite personnel record remains accurate regardless of technical issues.
The manual lock-off process requires the Site Protector to verify worker safety and status. Plant assignment validation (REQ-WORK-009) and return-to-site status tracking (REQ-WORK-008) apply to ensure safety and accurate personnel tracking.
Most workers will use QR code-based lock-off as the primary method; manual lock-off serves as a backup mechanism when QR codes are unavailable.

User Story
As a Site Protector managing workers on an active worksite
I want to manually lock off workers if their QR codes are unavailable
So that I can maintain an accurate record of personnel on site and ensure all workers are properly accounted for.
Business Rules
- Manual lock-off SHALL be available as a backup method when QR code lock-off is not possible
- Workers to be manually locked off MUST be selected from the list of currently locked-on personnel
- The Site Protector MUST verify that the worker is safe, clear, and contactable before lock-off
- Plant assignment validation rules from REQ-WORK-009 SHALL apply to prevent unsafe lock-offs
- Return-to-site status tracking from REQ-WORK-008 SHALL apply to maintain accurate shift records
- Manual lock-off SHALL function offline with the same capabilities as online lock-off
Acceptance Criteria
Event-Driven Requirements
When the Site Protector selects a worker from the locked-on personnel list for manual lock-off, the system SHALL display the manual lock-off interface.
When the manual lock-off interface is displayed, the system SHALL require the Site Protector to verify that the worker is safe, clear, and contactable.
When the manual lock-off interface is displayed, the system SHALL apply shift status requirements from REQ-WORK-008.
When the Site Protector attempts to lock off a worker, the system SHALL apply plant assignment validation from REQ-WORK-009.
When manual lock-off is completed, the system SHALL display a confirmation message.
When manual lock-off is completed, the system SHALL update the total count of personnel on site.
State-Driven Requirements
While the Site Protector has not completed all required verifications (safety check and shift status), the system SHALL disable the confirm lock-off action.
Ubiquitous Requirements
The system SHALL work offline for manual worker lock-off operations.
The system SHALL provide manual lock-off as an option for all locked-on workers regardless of how they were locked on.
The system SHALL maintain the same audit trail for manual lock-off as for QR-based lock-off.
Unwanted Behaviour
If required verifications are incomplete, then the system SHALL NOT allow the Site Protector to confirm lock-off.
Dependencies
Requires:
- REQ-WORK-001: Worker Sign-on and Lock-on - Workers must be locked-on before they can be locked off
- REQ-WORK-003: Viewing Workers on Site - Provides the list of locked-on workers
- REQ-WORK-009: Plant Personnel Validation - Validates plant assignments before lock-off
- REQ-WORK-008: Lock Off Returning to Site - Manages shift status and "returning to site" tracking
Enables:
- Accurate worksite personnel tracking in all scenarios
- Flexible lock-off operations when QR codes are unavailable

Notes
- QR code-based lock-off remains the primary method; manual lock-off is a backup for exceptional circumstances
- Manual lock-off maintains the same offline capability as other worker operations to ensure uninterrupted worksite management
- Plant assignment validation (REQ-WORK-009) and return-to-site status (REQ-WORK-008) are shared across all lock-off methods
- Specific guidance text and UI components for plant validation and shift status are defined in their respective requirements
